The recent incursion of the imperialist U.S. military into the Caribbean Sea, with Venezuela as its immediate target, creates a climate of war and instability that affects the entire region. The current grave threat is the continuation of interventionist policies by U.S. imperialism, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, expressed through blockades and economic sanctions, which are equally reprehensible.
From the CIPOML Plenary Session, we denounce the warmongering policy of the United States and its objectives of control and plunder over the wealth and resources of the peoples and countries of the region, especially Venezuela.
It is becoming increasingly clear to the peoples and democratic forces of the world that the so-called fight against drug trafficking brandished by the U.S. government is merely a pretext and an excuse to maintain its dominance over the region, ensure the exploitation and plunder of resources, and subjugate countries. Any truly serious effort against the crime of drug trafficking should target its main market in the United States and the big dirty business supported by reactionary governments, imperialists, and the bourgeoisie in various countries, whose financial systems launder billions of dollars every year.
The policy of demagogic lies spread by the United States to strike and plunder countries and peoples is not new. It is timely to recall its campaign launched in 2003 to convince the world that the government of Iraq supposedly possessed chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction that threatened humanity. On the basis of that pretext, they invaded the country, caused thousands of deaths, and ultimately admitted that such weapons never existed.
Threats of military aggression against the Venezuelan people are taking place in a context of a serious crisis of the world order imposed by the bourgeoisie after the Second World War. Within this framework, disputes and rivalries among imperialist powers are intensifying, which is reflected in the Caribbean.
We warn that an aggression against Venezuela could be the beginning of a broader escalation in the region, especially considering U.S. hostility toward the Colombian government, the threat of occupation under UN cover against Haiti, and the proliferation of new military bases. We condemn war crimes and violations of international law and sovereignty by the U.S. military.
Raising the banner of proletarian internationalism, we call on the workers and peoples of the world to militantly reject —and force back— the U.S. military aggression in Caribbean waters and any attempt to invade Venezuela.
From the CIPOML, we reaffirm our solidarity with the workers and the people of Venezuela and defend their inalienable right to self-determination. Likewise, we support the brother Marxist-Leninist parties that are struggling alongside the Caribbean peoples in the region.
