We, as the International Conference of Marxist-Leninist Parties and Organisations (CIPOML) express grave concern over the misuse of blasphemy laws in Pakistan which began to be used as a tool for targeting minorities and silencing dissent. We urge reform to prevent abuses, uphold fair trials, and protect religious and personal freedoms. The misuse of these laws exacerbates social divisions, restricts freedom of expression, and reflects deeper systemic issues that exploit religious sentiment within a capitalist framework.
We condemn the use of this law by the Pakistani government to represses the people and the attempt to Islamise the society which this practise represents and reinforces. This is evident from the escalation of these cases due to social and sectarian tensions, its violent repercussions in extrajudicial murders, imprisonment without trial and the disproportionate impact on minorities and progressive forces.
We call on the workers and all the working peoples of the world to take a stand against this and express their solidarity with the peoples of Pakistan. We demand that the Pakistani government to stop the implementation of this outdated practise and its repression of the people with immediate effect!
