The social demonstrations that have taken place in recent days in various cities of Cuba and in other countries are a continuation of the efforts of US imperialism to politically destabilise that country, and to impose a regime that strictly corresponds to its monopoly interests.
At the same time and with the same slogans, highlighting the city of Miami, as if with a planned and directed script, demonstrators took to the squares and streets to express protests against the Cuban government.
These protests have been encouraged by imperialist agents, and have been supported by objective material situations, such as shortages of food and medicine, and prolonged power cuts, which have worsened in recent months in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic; and which, as the government itself has acknowledged, affect broad sectors of the people in a very sensitive way.
But fundamentally, these objective shortages are directly related to the economic blockade imposed on Cuba, which does not allow it to develop a fair economic and commercial exchange with other countries, through which it can sell and acquire goods and services to boost its economy. These unsatisfied needs, which are expressed in the dissatisfaction of appreciable sectors of the masses, are also the result of the government’s conceptions and policies.
The Marxist-Leninist parties and organisations are clear that the Cuban economic and political regime expresses the validity of capitalism and dependence; that revolution and socialism are a necessity and a true response to the emancipatory yearnings of the workers and the peo- ple of Cuba.
The International Conference of Marxist-Leninist Parties and Organizations (CIPOML) reiterates its firm rejection of the economic blockade that US imperialism has maintained for 60 years against Cuba, as well as the embargo policies; at the same time it categorically supports the right of its people to social protest, to struggle for their interests and rights, as well as to self-determination, to decide their own political and social regime without foreign pressures or impositions of any kind.
For the CIPOML it is clear that, since the triumph of the revolution in 1959, Yankee imperialism decided to make it pay for this gesture of dignity in spades, and began a systematic and continuous aggression under the most varied and absurd forms of the dirty war.
Since the triumph of the revolution, US imperialism has developed a series of measures ranging from sabotage, assassination, boycott, embargoes, blockades, defamatory campaigns, which have not achieved their purpose; on the contrary, they have affirmed the patriotic sentiment of the Cuban people, the international solidarity of the peoples with Cuba and have inflamed the indignation of the people against capitalist-imperialist interventionism.
So, until now, as has been said, taking advantage of the difficulties caused and aggravated by the tightening of the blockade, the consequences of the pandemic and old and new economic problems, they have tried to make a new seditious attempt.
They stumbled again and will continue to stumble. The Cuban people is a people educated in patriotism and the defence of its Marti’s dignity; no matter how much venom its enemies distil, this people is heir to a long tradition of struggle against sedition, and its attitude of rejection of the aforementioned demonstrations has already been seen.
The imperialist, puppet governments of Latin America describe the response of the Cuban government as ferocious repression and denounce its decision to intervene directly in Cuba, in stark contrast to the bloodbath provoked by Ivan Duque in Colombia in the face of the just protests of the Colombian people weeks ago, or the murder – in recent days – of more than 70 people in South Africa who were protesting because they were suffering from hunger.
We are convinced that the workers and the people of Cuba will find the way and the resources to fight for social emancipation, for revolution and socialism.
